The best ultrasound machines for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) are the GE Logiq e and the GE Logiq e NextGen. Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) affects more than 1 million adults in the United States. Screening methods and intervention thresholds for AAA repair are critical to prevent rupture and the national average reimbursement for an AAA exam is up to ~$125. Since there are few noticeable symptoms, ultrasound is a highly-accurate and non-invasive approach to diagnosing and measuring the size of the aneurysm. Through the use of Doppler ultrasound, you can even measure the blood flow. If you’re looking to purchase an ultrasound machine and compatible probes that can create high-quality images of the abdomen for preventative and monitoring scans for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, read on to learn more about the GE Logiq e and GE Logq e NextGen set-up we recommend for you!
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Ultrasound
As Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm causes the aortic artery to balloon outward in the abdominal region, it’s important to have a machine that can monitor the size of the aneurysm to manage it properly. Ultrasound is a non-invasive scan that has been tested as a diagnostic tool for AAA and is relied upon for testing the presence of aneurysms by doctors. It can also be used to examine blood flow through the aortic artery by using Doppler ultrasound, which evaluates movement by measuring changes in the frequency of the echoes reflected from moving structures.
The GE Logiq e and Logiq e NextGen
Probo Medical is a trusted provider of new and fully refurbished ultrasound systems and machines that can be utilized for the early detection of vascular abnormalities like AAA, including the GE Logiq e portable ultrasound system that is a great option for abdominal imaging. The GE Logiq e is a compact, high-performing point-of-care system that features GE’s industry-leading technology. It features Color Doppler, which is specifically useful for scanning for AAA, and B-Steer Plus technology, coded harmonic imaging, and CrossXBeam technology.
An upgrade from the GE Logiq e is the GE Logiq e NextGen ultrasound system. It’s designed to be simpler, faster, and more precise than its predecessor. Additional to the GE Logiq e features, it also has TrueScan Architecture, TrueAcess, and SmartScan. Portable machines are perfect for point-of-care applications right out of the box. Our systems partner, MedCorp LLC, uses a 24-step refurbishment process to get both machines running at OEM standards at a fraction of the cost.
Compatible Probes for Imaging AAA
Our partners at Probo Medical will help you choose the best probe configuration for your system and desired applications. However, the ones we recommend that are compatible with the GE Logiq e and Logiq e NextGen are the GE 3S-RS, 4C-RS, and 8C-RS.
The GE 3S-RS is a wide-band phased array probe that has the lowest bandwidth at 1.7-4 MHz, and therefore can scan the deepest. For reference, ultrasound probe bandwidth can be compared to golf – the further you want to hit, the lower the number of golf club you use. On the other hand, the more accurate you need to be, the higher number of golf club you want to use. For example, for distance, you’d use a 2 Iron versus a 9 Iron. This probe is used for abdominal scans, adult and pediatric cardiac exams, OB/GYN exams, and thoracic/pleural exams.
The GE 4C-RS is also a wide-band convex array probe with a middle of the road bandwidth at 2-5.5 MHz. It’s used for abdominal, OB/GYN, hip, spine, bladder, and conventional musculoskeletal exams.
The 8C-RS is a wide-band microconvex array probe that has the highest bandwidth at 4-10 MHz, which means it’s best for shallower scans. It’s used for intraoperative, pediatric abdominal, neonatal cephalic, and small parts exams.
All of these probes are compatible with the GE Logiq e and Logiq e NextGen systems and are able to image for AAA tests.
